The Center for Jewish History offers fellowships to senior scholars through a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The awards support original research at CJH in the humanities, including but not limited to Jewish studies, Russian and East European studies, American studies and Germanic studies, as well as musicology, linguistics, anthropology, sociology and history. Deadline for applications: December 15, 2010.

Summer School of Ethnicity and Migration Studies is a two-week educational program for those who are intrigued by pressing issues of ethnicity, nationalism and recent international migration.  Theaterwerkstatt Pécs

Im Rahmen des off-Programms der Kulturhauptstadt 2010 Pécs ist eine 12-tägige Theaterwerkstatt u.d.T. Heimspiel in zwei Welten in Ungarn vom 5. bis 18. April 2010 geplant. Veranstaltet wird sie vom Deutschen Kulturforum östliches Europa und der Gemeinschaft Junger Ungarndeutscher (GJU). Schwerpunkt der Werkstatt ist die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit dem Leben zwischen zwei oder mehr Kulturen. Die ungarischen Teilnehmer gehören der deutschen Minderheit an. Aus Deutschland werden junge, spielbegeisterte Menschen zwischen 17 und 20 aus dem Ruhrgebiet mit mindestens einem türkischstämmigen Elternteil gesucht. Die zukünftigen Teilnehmer sollten sich durch Mut, Disziplin, Fairness, Sensibilität, Ausdauer und Experimentierfreude auszeichnen. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 31. Januar 2010.

Die internationale Sommerakademie zur Wissenschaft, Kultur und Geschichte der Ukraine "Greifswalder Ukrainicum" findet vom 11.-25. August 2010 im Alfried Krupp Wissenschaftskolleg Greifswald (D) statt. Es werden vormittags vier Sprachkurse (Anfänger, Anfänger mit Vorkenntnissen, Mittelstufe, Fortgeschrittene) und nachmittags drei Seminare angeboten werden. Das Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme ist ein internationales Stipendienprogramm für Doktoranden zur Erforschung der Geschichte und Kultur des deutschsprachigen Judentums in Zentraleuropa und in der Emigration. Das Programm bietet jährlich zwölf Nachwuchswissenschaftlern die Gelegenheit, ein Jahr an einem Studienort ihrer Wahl zu forschen. Während des Programmjahres kommen die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten zu zwei Seminaren zusammen, wo sie ihre Arbeiten mit hochrangigen Wissenschaftlern diskutieren. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 1. The following program of a roundtable to be held in Sofia is thematically linked to the topics discussed in the Digital Anthology Forbidden Words, turning towards the contamination and geopolitical implications of the term Balkanhalbinsel. The history of the term, its usages and misusages are discussed in connection with the historical and current (mis)usage of another geographical term, "Europe". Therefore, it the latter term should be analysed and revisited, as well, since it is not evident, why Non-Europe is meant to be insulting.

The Department for History of Byzantium and the Balkans at Faculty of History in University of Sofia "St. Kliment Ohridski" is prepraring a R o u n d T a b l e  with the following title and agenda: Two Hundred Years on the Road: The Term "Balkan Peninsula" (1808-2008).

Die Robert Bosch Stiftung unterstützt in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Literarischen Colloquium Berlin Autoren bei den Recherchen für deutschsprachige Veröffentlichungen, die Mittel- und Osteuropa als Thema grenzüberschreitend und für ein breites Publikum aufbereiten. Willkommen sind literarische und essayistische Prosa, Fototextbände, aber auch Drehbücher für Dokumentarfilme und Hörfunkbeiträge.

Einreichschluss ist der 30. April und der 31. Oktober jährlich.

Kulturmanager (m/w) aus Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropa
 
für eine dreizehnmonatige Qualifizierung im Kulturmanagement in Deutschland. Die Stipendiaten übernehmen ab Oktober 2008 die Aufgabe, in innovativen Projekten die kulturelle Vielfalt der Länder Mittel-, Ost- und Südosteuropas und insbesondere die junge Kunst- und Kulturszene ihres Landes in Deutschland zu präsentieren.
