[ Call for Papers ]

"Interaction with Others" is one of the main topics in Sociology and the Polish-German relationship. Therefore SKNM and KITE Academic Science Associations of Sociology and International Relations (University of Wroclaw) want to deal with this topic more deeply and host an interdisciplinary Polish-German Conference. The conference is taking place on 25-26 March 2010 in Departure of Social Science in Wroclaw, Poland.

Our aim is to bring regular and PhD students from Poland and Germany together. The conference is a two days event which includes two days of paper presentations, panel speeches and workshops. If you are interested in taking part in this conference, we kindly ask you to send us proposals for papers on the following example topics:

1. The Image of German and Pole presented in the Media (Newspapers, Internet, Television) and Schoolbooks.
2. Polish-German Stereotype: development, influence and change. The problems of stereotypes research.
3. The Situation of the Minorities: their position and role in the Society.
4. The Identity of "the Other" in the Society.
5. Integration, Assimilation and Conflict.
6. The social construction of the Outsider.
7. Humor and the linguistic phrases about Poland and Germany and their meaning in the public debate.
8. The Role of Institutions and Associations in the extension of Polish-German Relationships.

Submissions are welcome until February 10, 2010 at the following address: interaction.depl@gmail.com Abstract length: max 2 pages Language: English. Papers in German or Polish are accepted as well (the conference language is English). The proposal is to be sent in PDF or Word format. In the abstract, the following information is to be included: title of the paper, name, institutional affiliation, brief Bio. Authors will be notified of acceptance or rejection (via email) by February 15, 2010. Each participant will dispose of 20 minutes for his/her presentation. All conference papers will be published.

Accommodation expenses will be covered by the organizers of the conference. The participants have to pay the conference fee: 15 Euro for participants from Germany and 40 zlotych for participants from Poland.
