Ursula Reber (Wien): Programmierte Identität. Community-Building und Grenzgängertum in 'Europa'

Der Vortrag wendet sich auf einer allgemeineren Ebene Handlungskonzepten in einer globalisierten und 'postmodernen' Welt zu. Das Spannungsfeld von global spaces und local identity steht dabei v.a. im Zusammenhang mit Mediennetzwerken und kulturellen und wissenschaftlichen Plattformen im Vordergrund.

The paper discusses concepts of agency within a globalized and 'postmodern' environment in general. A special focus is given to the simultaneous embeddedness in global spaces and local identities as produced and forced by media networks and cultural and scientific networks.

Das Spiel von Selbstbestimmung, Selbstverantwortung und Wahlmöglichkeit innerhalb eines institutionell vorgegebenen Rahmens geht den Möglichkeiten und Unterschieden von agency und Performativität nach. Die Bemühungen, einen gemeinsamen kulturellen Raum in und für Europa zu kreieren, der zugleich effektives Differenz- und diversity-Management betreibt, werden auf ihre Grundlagen und ihre Steuerungsformen hin befragt. Hinsichtlich der Einpassung in 'Strukturpläne' und institutionelle Spezialisierungs-/Differenzierungsanforderungen soll der systematische Platz des/der mobilen europäischen Wissenschaftler/in wie nach den kreativen Produktionsbedingungen für Wissen gefragt werden. Dabei scheint sich ein neues Paradigma für Individiualität und Selbstverständnis abzuzeichnen.

The interplay of autonomy and responsibility, on the one hand, as well as options within institutional frameworks leads to a differentiation of agency and performativity. The premises of the attempts to build a common cultural space in and of Europe and its challenges of a productive and efficient management of differences and diversity, as well as the mechanisms of their very governance and regulation are to be revisited. In case of the establishment of a common scientific space for research and innovation, the paper will question the place of the individual researcher who is associated to different academic systems, as well as the substructures for the production of knowledge. Last, it could be that the paradigm of individuality and partiality is currently transformed into a new phenomenon.
