As Part II of the Summer Course Announcement concerning History Takes Place: European Sites of Memory - Wrocław by the ZEIT-Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius on 15-24 July, 2005 in Wrocław there are some introductory Notes by Gregor Thum, DAAD visiting professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

The ZEIT-Foundation Ebelin and Gerd Bucerius in Cooperation with the Willy-Brandt-Center of the University of Wrocław announced a Call for Applications for a Summer School (taking place in Wrocław/Poland between 15-24 July, 2005) on the topic History Takes Place: European Sites of Memory.

A special issue (5.1) of spacesofidentity on War Criminality is now online. This issue takes us on a journey from WWII Ukraine across the bloodied landscapes of the former Yugoslavia and of Chechnya. It is also a journey through time: from the camps in which victims' last breaths slipped away at the point of a soldier's bayonet to the eerie silence of a hi-tech war-room in a desert.
