[ Europa | Europe etc. ]

The EastWest Institute in cooperation with the University "Sv. Kliment Ohridski" of Bitola, the University "Fan S. Noli" of Korca, the University of Western Macedonia in Florina and the TEI Kozani invites students from the aformentioned universities to apply for a place in an introductory workshop on the European Union.
The workshop will introduce you to the foundations/history of the European Union, how it works in praxis and its role in a united Europe. It provides an insight into the political organization of most of Europe that will be essential to have in the personal, academic and professional surroundings. The teaching will be very practical and requires the active participation and prior preparation of the students. The workshop is conducted by Dr. Anna-Maria Konsta from the American College Thessaloniki and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The successful participation in the workshop will also qualify you to take part in the upcoming Prespa/Ohrid Academy on the European Integration Process planned for the Summer (July) or Winter 2005 (depending on funding). This Academy will elaborate on all aspects of the European Integration Process, that you will be introduced to during the workshop, in more detail.

The workshop will take place from 25 to 26 May 2005 in Hotel Bitola in Bitola (former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia). Costs for transport, lodging and meals will be covered by the EastWest Institute. Places are limited to ten participants from each country.

The workshop will be conducted in English. Fluency, both spoken and written, of English is therefore an important precondition for participation. Your application should include your Curriculum Vitae and a short summary of how the workshop will benefit you academically and personally.

Applications should be submitted via email to the following address: prespa-ohrid@ewi.info not later than 19 May 2005. Please direct questions to the same email address.
