Another contribution by Tatjana Marković, this time she reports from the symposium Research of Dance and Music on the Balkans:

The first meeting of the newly-established Association of the Balkan Music and Dance that was held in December 6-9 in Brčko, Bosnia, under the auspices of the International Musicological Society. Namely, the IMS has been fostered both study groups focused on specific topics (such as, for instance, Cantus planus, Musical iconography in European art, Musicology and computers) as well as wider regional groups of scholars. The latter groups include three associations, related to the Baltic countries, the Eastern Slavic countries (Russia, Ukraine, Moldova), and now also the Balkans.

Precisely fifty years after he composed the Gruppen (1955-1957) – "eine Eintrittskarte in die Welt der Neuen Musik" - Karlheinz Stockhausen (1928-2007), "ein Gott in Kurten", passed away last week.
Here’s an obituary by Dr. Tatjana Marković (Belgrade):

Mit o Kosovu i Metohiji je u osnovi srpskog nacionalnog identiteta. Srednjovekovna Kosovska bitka (1389) - tragični gubitak carstva i početak gotovo petstogodišnjeg ropstva pod Turcimaodnosno momenat kada je srpski narod postao Nebeski narod - bila je osnova za konstrukciju mita u devetnaestom veku, a taj mit je potom oživljavan, korišćen, ponovo upotrebaljan i zloupotrebljavan u svim ključnim trenucima srpske političke i kulturne istorije do danas.
