Blogtrax has a new entry on the performance of identity via blogging. The brief thoughts on the performance of identity building correspond to Kk.rev's mega-topic of Self-representation and the impact of media on it. Though, I cannot quite agree with the narrative as the very condition of reflexivity and self-reflexivity.

It seems to me that representing oneself, telling one’s own story, creates the conditions for reflexivity.

First, telling one's own story is only one way of many to represent oneself - in a certain way. In case of academic blogs, in which Blogtrax is interested, as well as involved, all the basic conditions named there, too - the inclusion, exclusion and bracketing of topics, experiences, interests etc - are very special.

Sure, one can get some insights into the performance of identity, yet, it is to ask in which identity. It is for the most parts, if not only, the performance of a professional identity that can be traced and analysed. Still, it is not clear to me, which difference the use of a weblog makes in comparison to identity performances via lectures, interview, publication.
