The Albanian Institute for International Studies seeks a researcher and offers a renewable one-year contract that includes a competitive wage and benefits to the successful candidate. Deadline for application: 30 March 2007.

Responsibilities:

Write policy and academic papers on security,
transition to democracy, European Union and NATO
integration and economic development issues;
Write project proposals, conduct fieldwork and
write final reports on projects dealing with the above-mentioned issues;
Ad-hoc administrative and other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:

- A diploma from a Western university,
preferably in one of the following fields of
study: political science, international relations
or economics. However, AIIS encourages candidates
that have completed their studies in other social sciences to apply as well.

- A Master's degree is preferred, but it
is not a must. However, the quality of work that
is expected from the candidate will be quite
high, and a Master's degree would be quite helpful in this regard.

- Excellent knowledge of English and
Albanian. The successful candidate must have
excellent research and writing skills in both
languages. A good knowledge of another language
is preferred but not necessary for this position.

Please forward a resume, cover letter, and a
small writing sample by e-mail to
aiis@aiis-albania.org or to AIIS Director Eno
Trimçev at etrimcev@aiis-albania.org. Only
short-listed candidates will be contacted by AIIS for an interview.
