[ Bosnia-Herzegovina ]

A historical day for Bosnia-Herzegovina - but in a rather unspectacular way. The SAA negotiations started today in the Government/Parliament building in Sarajevo, with the BH negotiation team around Igor Davidovic sitting on one side, and the small EU team lead by Reinhardt Priebe, director of the Commission's Office for the Western Balkans, on the other.

The two-day negotiation round started with "easy" issues such as general principles (e.g. co-operation with the ICTY), political and regional co-operation. Economic issues will be dealt with tomorrow.

In today's daily papers, the negotiations were a bit hidden among other news: Dnevni Avaz, the most-bought daily in Bosnia-Herzegovina, featured an announcement of the negotiations on page 4 and a presentation of Igor Davidovic on page 5, while Oslobođenje announced that "Priebe will lead the EU-team" in a small article on page 2...
