In the JOE-List Florian Bieber posted a review of Elizabeth Roberts' new released book The Realm of the Black Mountain. A History of Montenegro (London: Hurst & Co., 2007, 521 pp. ISBN 1850658684, 16.95 GBP, Softcover [Published in the USA by Cornell University Press, ISBN 0801446015]).

Besides his recognition of the work she has done, one of his critiques on the book is that "[f]inally, the book carefully avoids engaging with the controversies over identity, in particular over the emergence of Montenegrin identity and the contestation among the majority over Montenegrin and Serb national identity". Nevertheless, I think that was rather wise of her.
