The European Institutes for Advanced Study (EURIAS) Fellowship Programme offers 33 fellowships for the 2011-2012 academic year. It proposes 10-month residencies in one of the 14 participating Institutes: Berlin, Bologna, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Cambridge, Helsinki, Jerusalem, Lyons, Nantes, Paris, Uppsala, Vienna, Wassenaar. Applications should be submitted online via www.eurias-fp.eu before September 10, 2010.

 Fellowship for Translators IWM

The Paul Celan Fellowship program of the Insitute for Human Sciences (IWM), Vienna, supports East-West, West-East and East-East translations of canonical texts as well as contemporary key works in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Cultural Studies. Special emphasis is put on translations of relevant works written by East European authors and/or by female scholars. Application deadline: March 5, 2010.

The Center for the Humanities at Temple supports the work of talented new voices in interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching in the humanities and humanistic social sciences. We invite applications for the External Humanities Fellowship program in 2010-11, renewable for a second year. Fellows pursue their own research, participate in the activities of the Center, and teach one course per semester, with no teaching in the first semester. The successful applicant will demonstrate strong interdisciplinary research potential and show evidence of exemplary teaching. Deadline for applications: January 25, 2010.

The Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry at Emory University is accepting applications for three Junior/Post-Doctoral fellowships for an academic of study, teaching, and residence in the Center. The FCHI Fellows Program offers research opportunities to those trained in the humanities as traditionally defined and to others seriously interested in humanistic issues; research projects must be humanistic, but fellows may hold the Ph.D. in any discipline. We especially seek applicants and projects that will benefit from and contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of the group of Fellows and the work of the FCHI. Funded within the Excellence Initiative of the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Graduate School of the Cluster "Languages of Emotion" of the Freie Universität Berlin has as its aim the supervision of exceptional dissertation projects pertinent to the research of the Cluster. Die VolkswagenStiftung und das Humanities Center der Harvard University schreiben im Rahmen einer 2007 für zunächst vier Jahre gestarteten Initiative weitere Annual Fellowships for Post-doctoral Research in the Humanities at The Humanities Center of Harvard University aus. Damit sollen jährlich bis zu vier hochqualifizierte Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und -wissenschaftler aus deutschen Hochschulen die Möglichkeit erhalten, jeweils ein Jahr (beginnend September 2010) in einem attraktiven akademischen Umfeld geisteswissenschaftlich zu forschen und auf der Basis eines Auftaktworkshops fächerübergreifend Gesprächs- und Arbeitskontakte aufzubauen. Dabei können sie auf die örtlichen Bibliotheken, Archive sowie vielfältige weitere Forschungs- und Kommunikationsangebote zurückgreifen und auch an internationalen Konferenzen und Workshops mitwirken. In begrenztem Umfang ist zudem die Durchführung eigener Lehrveranstaltungen vorgesehen. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 1. November 2009.
