The German Historical Institute, Washington, DC, a center for advanced scholarly research, seeks a full-time editor for its English-language book projects in comparative history and the history of consumption and consumerism. Deadline for applications: December 2, 2009.

The position entails extensive revision of texts in English and editing texts translated from German into English. A command of German is required. Competitive candidates will have work experience in scholarly publishing and/or advanced training in European history, German studies, or a related field. The position is envisioned as a full-time job, but candidates interested in part-time employment will also be considered. The successful candidate will be expected to work in-house at the GHI. The anticipated starting date will be February 1, 2010.
