The Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford proposes to appoint a Research Fellow to work on the (ERC) European Research Council’s project, ‘Media and Democracy in Central and Eastern Europe’ (MDCEE). The post will commence from 1 October 2009 for four years on a fixed-term contract. Deadline for application: April 15, 2009.

Grade 7: Salary £28,839 - £35,469 with a discretionary range to £38,757 p.a.

The main duties of the post include data gathering, data analysis, preparation of scholarly papers and monograph(s), together with participation in project dissemination. The successful candidate will represent the project externally at national and international levels taking a lead role at conferences and project meetings.

A completed doctorate in a related subject and outstanding research skills are required. Excellent organisation, communication and IT skills are essential.  The postholder will possess a professional familiarity with scholarly literature and debates on media, politics and democracy and/or post-communist politics and societies as evidenced in research training and written work.
