 Medien & Migration, SEE & EU - Part 2

I know it has been a while, and this is now an attempt to resuscitate this weblog. In the meantime, I have moved East, albeit not far - just to the East End - and that is at the same time the explanation for the last long pause on ImagineSEE. Or rather, British Telekom and the weather are.
Anyway, no internet for two months plus two children plus school holidays equals no blogging - and not much information about the world as a whole and the Balkans in particular either...so I'll try to cover the bits and pieces that newspapers and the last days with my new shiny BT Home Hub have supplied in the next few postings...

First, here's a last chance to see...

Was soll 'Imaginary' in diesem Fall heißen?

Romanian forums and weblogs are euphoric about the news - director Cristian Mungiu and his film '4 luni, 3 saptamini si 2 zile' have won the Golden Palm in Cannes. This is a first for Romanian cinematography, and will - after the international success of other Romanian films, like Moartea domnului Lazarescu by Cristi Puiu in 2005 (Cannes '05 winner of Prix un certain regard) - further inscribe Romanian Cinema on the map of the cinematic world.

The new issue of an online magazine has just been introduced by the Erste Bank Group. It is called "Report", and is a magazine of Kontakt, the Arts and Civil Society Program of Erste Bank Group, aiming to provide information about art, human sciences and social affairs in Central and Eastern Europe....
Their first issue (download here) focuses on Women in East and West (btw, I love the cover by Sanja Ivekovic....
The articles featured in 'Report' might be useful as an inspiration for anybody considering to participate at the CfP posted yesterday (though there is nothing specific about Albania in the magazine)...

Call for Papers - Part 3

An interesting Call for Papers: Gender & Social Change in Albania's Transition has just been posted on Balkan Academic News:

The Gender Alliance for Development, in cooperation with Cordaid (Netherlands), invites submissions for an edited collection on Gender and Social Change in Albania's Transition. The collection intends to address the current gap in academic literature in this area by providing a detailed depiction of changing gender relations since the early 1990s.
