Bosnian political leaders of all three communities today issued a general statement on their commitment towards constitutional reform.

The statement, signed yesterday night, reads:

We have decided to embark upon a process of constitutional reform that will enhance the authorities of the state government and streamline parliament and the office of the presidency. These are only the first steps. We recognize that further reforms of the constitution will be necessary to meet criteria for membership in the European Union. (source:

The parties further commited themselves to work out the details of the constitutional reform by March 2006.

In a separate statement, leaders of the Republika Srpska supported for the first time officially the arrest of Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic.
