Lecturer in Czech with Slovak literature
University College London - School of Slavonic and East European Studies:
The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Czech with Slovak Literature from 1 September 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter.

Through this appointment, SSEES is seeking to maintain and develop its research and teaching in Czech literature from the National Revival until the present day and also in Slovak literature of the same period.  reference may be given to candidates with additional research and teaching strengths in the area of Czech and Slovak cinema. A successful applicant who does not yet have expertise in Slovak literature will be expected to develop core teaching expertise in this field.

  

Applications from candidates with additional areas of expertise will also be welcomed. These may include Czech literature of earlier periods, cultural studies, critical and literary theory, cultural history, comparative literature, philosophy, and gender studies.

 

Applicants must be able to demonstrate their potential in terms of sustainable top-rate research and have the ability to teach at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful candidate will have an excellent knowledge of Czech literature and, preferably, a good knowledge of Slovak literature, and have a PhD in a relevant area of research.

 

The annual salary will be on the Lecturer scale Grade 7 or 8, currently in the range £29,138 to £39,160 plus £2,497 London Allowance.
