The Robert Bosch Foundation is sponsoring four 6-months research fellowships at the Institute for Human Sciences in Vienna for doctoral candidates and post-docs working on research projects related to Southeast Europe. Application deadline: February 28, 2007. www.iwm.at/fellowships

Fellowships under the banner "Culture and the City - Fellowships for the Arts" are offered through a European Union program; for the same target group plus graduates. Deadline: April 1, 2007. www.urban- future.net

The Aegean Exchange Program administered by the American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) will grant 3 short-term fellowships of up to $2500 for Turkish doctoral students and senior scholars to conduct research in Greece, under the auspices of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens (ASCSA). In other news, the Turkish Higher Education Council has announced to award scholarships for foreign researchers for conducting research, graduate and postgraduate studies in the humanities and social sciences in Turkey. Subjects supported include "Christians in the Ottoman Empire", "Armenian Diaspora", and more. One precondition is the ability to work in the Ottoman archives. The Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) announces a competition for the Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Award for the Preservation of Islamic Cultural Heritage. The purpose of the competition is to support the revival of Islamic heritage; preservation of monuments in order to give them vital functions, either historical or contemporary. The competition is open to completed projects of extraordinary contribution to the preservation of Islamic cultural heritage realized in the last five years.
