im IKM (Karlsplatz 2, 1010 Wien) zum Thema "Theories and Concepts in Comparative Arts Policy":.

"In an era of increasing international information exchange, we can easily learn about tools and instruments governments of other nations are using to support the arts. It may be tempting to learn from “smart practices” abroad and to advocate for similar policy strategies in our own domestic environments. However, without understanding the framework of historical, institutional, and contextual constraints within which national arts policies evolve, direct adoption of policies and programs developed abroad is often destined to fail. This theoretically-oriented presentation critically analyzes and synthesizes current scholarship in comparative cultural policy to formulate a concise framework for comparing the goals, organization, and tools of national arts policies. Contextual factors that influence public preferences, public choice, and the resulting arts policy decisions are integrated in this model. Policy scholars and arts administrators alike may find the theories and concepts provided in this lecture to be of assistance in understanding the development of the arts policy context in which they work and in formulating strategies to proactively influence this environment."
