Kakanien revisited,  Wien

We engage in acts of self-representation almost constantly - both individually and as a group, as recipient, communicator and even as medium. Communicating an identity and a role, placing oneself in context is a fundamental part of human behaviour, which has been addressed from different viewpoints in many disciplines. Among other spheres, self-representation can take place in the public and the private, in a personal or a commercial manner, with the background of a real or fictitious person or group, via various forms of communicative media - a term which also needs to be clearly defined in this context -, with differing intentions and in varying contexts. This workshop will put the very acts of representation we engage in at its centre via conributions stemming from different disciplines.

The workshop will take place in Vienna on January 11, 2007 to January 13, 2007. The programm is available here.

Abstracts of the contributions and short biographies of the participants of the workshop are available for download here.
