Ziel dieser Konferenz zur Geschichte und Kultur der Wiener Juden ist, den gegenwärtigen wissenschaftlichen Stand der Forschung und kulturellen Auseinandersetzung einer breiten Öffentlichkeit näher zu bringen. Zahlreiche Ausstellungen, Theater- sowie Filmproduktionen und öffentliche Gesprächsforen der vergangenen Monate zeigen das große und wieder erstarkte Interesse an jüdischen Themen in Medien und Wissenschaft. Um einen internationalen inner- wie außeruniversitären Austausch der "jüdischen Erfahrung" zu ermöglichen, organisieren nationale und internationale, universitäre und außeruniversitäre Institutionen gemeinsam eine internationale Konferenz zum Thema Wien und die jüdische Erfahrung - 1900 bis 1938. Akkulturation, Antisemitismus, Zionismus.

Die Konferenz findet vom 19.03. bis 22.03.2007 in Wien statt

The aim of this conference on the history and culture of Viennese Jews is to open the current state of academic research and cultural debate to a wide public. Numerous exhibitions, theatre and film productions and public discussions in the past months have shown the great and growing interest in Jewish themes in media and science. In order to enable an international exchange on the "jewish experience" in the university and extra-university realm, national and international, university and non-university institutions are together organising a conference on the topic Vienna and the Jewish Experience - 1900 to 1938. Acculturation, Antisemitism, Zionsim.

The conference is taking place in Vienna on March 19-22, 2007.
