"Kakanien revisited" is a platform for interdisciplinary research in the field of Central and Southeast European studies. It is a research and networking project supported by the BM.W_F (Austrian Federal Ministry for Science and Research) and the University of Vienna. This project focuses on publication, networking and communication. It should be of particular use for researchers in CE/SEE countries.

Support for presentations is offered under the categories "Cooperations" and, to a certain extent, "Materials". Each profile includes contact details, in order to enable further discussions, questions, and requests for co-operation.

Publications are supported under the categories "Contributions", "Reviews", and "Materials". Abstracts in at least two languages give an overview of essays and documents published on this platform. All contributions and reviews are accompanied by a short CV of the authors and will consistently be available as citable PDF-documents.

In addition to the monthly newsletter, a web-based calendar will keep you up to date about events in the field of research on Central and South Eastern Europe. This schedule of events can be found under the section "Calendar" in the website's "Service" section. A link or contact details will refer you to the relevant contact persons. If we have been provided with a Call for Papers or a detailed program, we will make it available for you as a PDF-document.

We depend upon your initiative for academic papers, publications, reviews, profiles and descriptions, as well as event information. We invite you to send your contributions to the editors, preferably as Word or Rich-Text Format (rtf) files.

In addition to the calendar of events, the "Service" section includes a growing bibliography, an annotated list of links, the sitemap and an "About us" section, where the team presents itself.

The Weblogs are there to facilitate academic communication and are collected in a forum. Topics and academic fields relevant to "Kakanien revisited" are connected within and between fora by external links and references from weblogs moderated by partner institutes. In addition to that there is the possibility to register and subsequently post one’s own comments or publish information on important publications, upcoming events, call for papers, etc.

Password protected e-Rooms provide working space for projects and enable internal communication and project documentation.
