Kulturwissenschaftliches Wissen ist in aller Regel kulturspezifisches Wissen und Innovationen kommen in der Regel von Außen. Es sind die Interessen und Deutungsschemata kollektiver Akteure, die nach Artikulation und Repäsentation verlangen, und es sind die Sozial- und Kulturwissenschaften, die diese Ausdrucksinteressen feldspezifisch systematisieren.

Cultural Studies produce knowledge which is culturally specific; frequently innovative results come from outside the local cultural setting. By taking up such innovations protagonist articulate interests and interpretive schemes, which are then systemized primarily within the discursive fields of the social and cultural sciences.
