Trans_European Picnic: The Art and Media of Accession

In Anlehnung an das pan-europäische Picknick entlang der Östereichisch-Ungarischen Grenze im Jahr 1989 wird das Trans_European Picnic die von der EU Erweiterung bewirkten geopolitischen Veränderungen thematisieren. In einem 2 Tage langem Treffen von Vertretern von Kunst und Kultur der elektronischen Medien in und um Novi Sad unweit der neuen transnationalen Grenze der EU wird das Picknick Künstler, Theoretiker und Praktiker aus dem Medienbereich zusammenbringen um die sich verändernde kulturelle und künstlerische Landschaft innerhalb und ausserhalb dieses neuen Konglomerats von konkurrierenden Kulturen, Wirtschaften und Identitäten zu erarbeiten.
Recalling the pan-European Picnic of 1989 along the Austrian-Hungarian border, the Trans_European Picnic will mark the shift in Europe's geopolitical structure brought on by the EU Expansion. Through a two-day electronic media arts and culture gathering in and around the city of Novi Sad, Serbia, not far beyond the European Union's new transnational edge, the Picnic will bring together artists, theoreticians and media practitioners from across Europe to explore the changing cultural and artistic landscape within and beyond this new conglomerate of competing cultures, economies and identities.
