Towards a Post-Ethnonationalist Society: Co-operation across Ethnic Boundaries in Academic and Non-Governmental Spheres in Kosovo - Panel at the Conference Democracy and Human Rights in Multiethnic Societies

Das Panel kommt von einer Umfrage her, die im Herbst 2003 im Kosovo von einem Team von Kosovo-albanischen und -serbischen Sozialwissenschaftlern unter der Leitung einer dänischen Consulting Firma durchgeführt wurde. Das Team strebt die Etablierung einer dauerhaften "Balkan-Universität an. In Rahmen des Konjicer Seminars im Juli 2004 möchte das Team die vergangenen Erfahrungen und seine Vorschläge und Aussichten auf die Überwindung des Ethnonationalismus im der der lokalen Bildungs- und Privatsektor mit denjenigen der TeilnehmerInnen in Konjic austauschen und das Projekt sowohl in theoretischer wie praktischer hinsicht ausweiten.

The panel derives from a public opinion survey that was conducted in Kosovo in the fall of 2003 by a team of Kosovo Albanian and Serb social scientists, under the auspices of a Danish consulting firm. The survey team wishes that their collaborative experiences be expanded, possibly in the form of a permanent "Balkan University". For now, we would like to exchange our past experiences and prospects for overcoming the legacy of ethnonationalism in the local academia and non-governmental sector with the Konjic seminar participants, and ex-pand the project in both theoretical and practical directions.
