This year the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” celebrates its 120th anniversary. As part of the cultural programme “The Seven Arts are Visiting the Sofia University” today, the 19.11.2008 from 17.00 in Auditorium 65 will be held a “Grand Poetry Reading” – a remark to the readings of dissident poets in the University in 1989. The happening will present more than 30 Bulgarian poets, both participants of the former dissident readings and members of the younger poetic generation.

Later on there will be a Promotion of the first issue of the student e-magazine "Piron", which in Bulgarian stands for both a nail and the philosopher Pyrrho, as can be seen on the magazine’s cover by Lachezar Boyadjiev, a magazine about the art life in Sofia, created and issued by the Master's Degree Programme "Art and Contemporary Life" at the Cultural Studies Department.

The e-zine is hosted by the Server for Art and Culture cult.bg and encompasses diverse themes and issues, as Flâneur, Маgister dixit!, Nail of the Issue, The Master’s Atelier for the Arts, Visiting us, Arts in Context, Education and Art, Photosession, Pyro/Pyrrho-mania.

Welcome to the [Sofia] weblog, a part of the Kakanien Revisited weblog network. The Team - Dimiter, Assen and Mira - all three PhD students in the Department of History and Theory of Culture at the Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" will try to create an image - although sometimes a faceted and incoherent one - of the Bulgarian academia, culture, ongoing events, ideas, realities and virtual spaces. All of you - our readers - are warmheartedly invited to join us in this endeavor with your comments and suggestions.
