The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies is seeking to appoint two positions: (1) a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer/Reader in South-East European Politics, to start on 1st September 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter; (2) a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer/Reader in Modern South-East European History, to start on 1st September 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter. Closing date for receipt of applications: 7 May 2007.

POLITICS: The successful candidate will have a strong background in a social science discipline, preferably in Political Science, and must demonstrate expertise in South-Eastern Europe, focussing on the Western Balkans. S/he will be required to carry out research into areas such as the politics and foreign policy of the states of the Western Balkans; minorities and migration; Europeanization, including EU enlargement, integration and leverage; the impact of globalization and global security issues; energy issues; conflict resolution; and governance and politics at a local level.

HISTORY: Applicants should have an expertise in South-East European history after 1800, with particular reference to the territories of the former Yugoslav lands, Bulgaria and/or Albania.
