The Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung Potsdam (Center of Contemporary History Potsdam) invites applications for the position of a Research fellow (m/f) (TV-L E 13/E 14). Candidates for this position should hold a Ph.D. in the Humanities and Social Sciences with a focus on East European and East Central European contemporary history. Further, candidates should have an international record of research experience and relevant experiences in project coordination and research fund raising. Excellent knowledge of English and one East Central European language and basic knowledge of German are required for this position. Deadline for applications: November 19, 2010.

The Karen Johnson Freeze Fellowship Fund is an initiative of the Foundation for the History of Technology (SHT) and the Society for the History of Technology (SHOT) to encourage research in the field of history of technology by early career scholars in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe, in particular in Albania, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, the Ukraine, and Turkey. Applications are invited for two fully-funded PhD studentships in Slavonic Studies (EU/UK rate**) covering the period 1 October 2010 to 31 September 2013, working under the supervision of Dr. Alexander Etkind in the Faculty of Modern and Medieval Languages of the University of Cambridge. These awards have become available as a result of the award of a 2009 HERA JRP grant (Humanities in the European Research Area, Joint Research Program) in the category "Cultural Dynamics: Inheritance and Identity" for the collaborative research project “Memory at War: Cultural Dynamics in Poland, Russia, and Ukraine”. Jewish Studies at Arizona State University in conjunction with the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies seeks to fill a tenure-tracked Assistant/Associate Professor position in Jewish history and culture of Eastern Europe of the Modern period (1800 to the present). Rank and salary are commensurable with qualifications. The selected candidate will hold an appointment in the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies, will teach courses in the Jewish Studies Program and will be an affiliate of the Center for Jewish Studies. The candidate is expected to interact with other units at ASU such as the School of International Letters and Cultures and the School of Politics and Global Studies.
