The Faculty of Historical Sciences at Bochum University is seeking to fill the position of a professor for the History of the Ottoman Empire and Turkish History in the Department of History (W2 on the German professorial scale) by October 1, 2010. Deadline for application: March 31, 2010.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the ability to cover the field of the History of the Ottoman Empire and Turkish History within the department; a proven research record in the History of intercultural relations as well as those between different religions would be advantageous. He or she is expected to participate in the newly founded Centre for Mediterranean Studies as well as the research projects of Faculty and University. The ability to initiate research projects capable of generating third-party funding is essential.

Applicants must have a PhD in a relevant field as well as an excellent research profile, i. e. the equivalent of a German Habilitation, as well as a proven record in academic teaching.
