A glimpse to the other side: Hampden - Sydney College (Virginia, United States) offers an Assistant Professor, tenure-track position beginning Fall 2009. Deadline of application: November 15, 2008.

Specialization or strong background in diplomatic history preferred, with subfields and specialties open. Candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; teaching responsibilities include a two-semester survey and upper-division courses in the instructor’s specialty, as well as one or two sections of an interdisciplinary Western Culture core course each semester.

Successful candidates should have the Ph.D. by the time of appointment.

Hampden-Sydney College is a four-year traditional liberal arts college for men located 60 miles southwest of Richmond, VA.
