[ Call for Papers ]

The Journal of Literary Theory (JLT) invites contributions for 5/ 2 (2011): Trauma and Literature
asks for the submission of articles.

Submission Deadline: March 15, 2011.

Since the mid-1990s, the intersection of trauma theory and literary studies has proven itself to be mutually fruitful.

Traumatic events as thematized in literature have been researched, for example torture, rape, genocide. Beyond this approach, researchers have also looked at the relations between specific strategies used by victims of trauma for remembering, commemorating and working through these experiences and literary modes of representation.

This issue will focus on exploring the status of the current discussion, and more specifically on the status of methodological and theoretical approaches to these questions.
Historical case studies and analyses of specific literary texts are accepted only if they adopt a predominantly systematic perspective, contribute to the reconstruction of the history of literary theory, or pursue innovative methods.

Contributions should not exceed 50,000 characters in length and have to be submitted until March 15, 2011. Publication languages are English and German.

Articles are chosen for publication by an international advisory board in a double-blind review process.

Please submit your contribution electronically to jlt@phil.uni-goettingen.de

JLT also still accepts contributions for the following issues:

No. 2 2010: Popular Culture (July 15th 2010)

No. 1 2011: Standards and Norms of Literary Studies (November 15th 2010)
