Litauen und Europa. Kulturgeschichtliche Grundlagen und Perspektiven der Zukunft

Die Tagung wird kulturgeschichtliche Entwicklungen, Spezifika und Prägungen zur Diskussion stellen, die der "Rückkehr" dieses baltischen Landes "nach Europa" zugrunde liegen sowie vor Augen führen, welche kulturellen und intellektuellen Impulse von ihm in der Vergangenheit ausgegangen sind. Die Perspektive des EU-Beitritts baut auf diese europäische Tradition und eröffnet gleichzeitig ein neues Kapitel in der Geschichte des Landes. Diese politische Neuentwicklung ist ebenfalls Thema der Tagung.
The conference will focus developments of Lithuanian cultural history, its specifications and characteristic features that underly the "return" of this Baltic country "to Europe", as well as show which cultural and intellectual impulses it gave in the past. The perspective of joining the EC relies on this European tradition and simultaneously opens a new paragraph of the country's history. This fresh political development will also be subject of the conference.
