Carthage that could not be "ploughed in". Thoughts about the oppressed multiculturalism in Vojvodina

Der Autor beschreibt in diesem Beitrag die Zerstörung der ethnischen Vielfalt in der nördlichen serbischen Provinz Vojvodina in der jugoslawischen Zeit (1918-1991) sowie während der letzten Balkankriege (1991-1999). Er legt zunächst einige düstere Fakten über die bedrohten ethnischen Beziehungen in der Region dar und behandelt anschliessend einige der bekanntesten Musiker aus der Vojvodina, die mit ihrem Werk solcher Situation Widerstand leisten.
Der Autor schließt, dass die beste Lösung für eine perspektivreiche Zukunft der Vojvodina eine in der Verfassung verankerte Autonomie der Provinz unter der Schirmherrschaft der internationalen Gemeinschaft und der Europäischen Union darstellt.
The Author tries to explain the destruction of the ethnic diversity in the northern Serbian province of Vojvodina in the Yugoslav era (1918-1991) as well as during the last Balkan wars (1991-1999). After presenting some grim facts on endangered interethnic relations in that region, the author treats some of the most popular musicians from Vojvodina who have contributed to the ethnic diversity of the region.
The author concludes that the best solution for a prosperous future of Vojvodina is a constitutionally safeguarded autonomy of that region under the supervision of international community and the European Union.
