Zentren und Peripherien in Herrschaft und Kultur Österreich-Ungarns

Der Sammelband enthält die Beiträge der Abschlusskonferenz des österreichischen FWF-Forschungsprojekts 14727 in Wien und Klosterneuburg 2003. Diese interdisziplinäre Tagung thematisierte das Verhältnis von Zentren und Peripherien in der Kultur der späten k.(u.)k. Monarchie vor dem Hintergrund gesellschaftlicher Machtverhältnisse. Auf diese Weise sollen Logiken von realer und symbolischer De- und Reterritorialisierung sichtbar gemacht werden: Infrastrukturen der Herrschaft (Wirtschaftssystem, Unterrichts- und Verkehrswesen, Militärapparat etc.) ebenso wie narrative Konstruktionen von (ethnischer, sozialer, geschlechtlicher u.a.) Identität und Differenz in Texten der habsburgischen Kultur/-en, die ebenfalls der Denkfigur von 'Zentrum' und 'Peripherie' verpflichtet scheinen.
The anthology gathers the papers from the last conference of the Austrian FWF research project 14727 in Vienna and Klosterneuburg, 2003. The interdiscipliniary conference focussed on the relations between cores and peripheries of the culture of the late k.k. monarchy within the framework of social power relations. In this way the logics of real and symbolic de- and reterritorialisations are made visible: the infrastructures of power (economic systems, educational institutions and traffic systems, the military, and so on), as well as narrative constructions of (ethnic, social, gender) identity and otherness in different texts of the Habsburg culture/s that seem to bound to the metaphor of 'core' and 'periphery'.
