Konkurrierende Imaginationen von Gemeinschaft

Die Autorin befasst sich in diesem kurzen theoretischen Beitrag mit der gegenwärtigen Wahrnehmung von Zentraleuropa in der Geschichtswissenschaft und macht darin u.a. deutlich, wie sehr die zentraleuropäische Situation v.a. Strategien nationaler Identitätspolitik aufweist, die sich zwischen Prozessen des 'nation building', Konstruktionen des Nationalen und Strategien einer "Politik der Anerkennung" bewegen, die es heute mehr denn je zu analysieren gilt um so Zentraleuropa als einen Raum konkurrierender und zugleich realitätswirksamer Imaginationen von "Gemeinschaft" und "Differenz" zu erkennen.
In her short theoretical paper the author looks at the contemporary perception of Central Europe within the science of history. She explains how the Central European situation shows strategies of national identity politics that range between processes of 'nation building', national constructions and strategies of a "politics of recognition". They have to be analysed more closely today than ever in order to understand Central Europe as a space of competing and still at the same time reality-effective imaginations of "community" and "difference".
