Ivana Perković-Radak,  Belgrade

The following paper deals with the role of Kornelije Stanković in the development of the Serbian polyphonic church music in the 19th century. The development was strongly influenced from Western Europe, especially from Vienna (Simon Sechter). The author shows – with help of musicologic methods – that the presentation of the Serbian chruch music in the 19 th century was not a "genuine" Serbian church music any more, but already a kind of self-representation.
