Nationaltheater und Aktualpolitik

Der vorliegende Beitrag geht ausführlich auf die Frage des Verhältnisses zwischen Nationaltheater und seiner Rolle als traditionelle Institution jeder Nation sowie auf deren Auswirkungen auf die Aktualpolitik ein. Die Autorin illustriert ihre Thesen mit den zwei Nationaltheatereröffnungen in der nahen Vergangenheit, nämlich mit denen des ungarischen (2002) und des schottischen (2005) Nationaltheaters. Und während in Ungarn die Monumentalität des Theatergebäudes klare Rückschlüsse auf den Nationalstaat im Hintergrund zulässt, verzichtete man in Schottland auf ein festes Theatergebäude und entschloss sich zu einer Art Wandertheater. Der Beitrag behandelt außerdem die Frage des "ewigen" Nationaltheaters und greift in die Geschichte zurück (Comedie-Française, Lessing, Weimarer Hoftheater, Burgtheater), um schließlich die aktualpolitische Rolle des Nationaltheaters im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert näher zu beschreiben.
The following paper deals with the relation between national theatre and its role as a traditional institution as well as its impact on the actual national politics. The author provides the examples of two recent openings of national theatres: the one in Hungary (in 2002) and the other one in Scotland (in 2005). The monumental building of the Hungarian National Theatre implies the nation state in the background, in Scotland, however, the national theatre abandoned the option of a solid building and established a sort of a wandering theatre. The paper deals also with the issue of an "eternal" theatre and brings up some examples from the history (Comedie-Française, Lessing, Weimarer Hoftheater, Burgtheater) to refer to its contemporary role in the 19th and 20th century.
